Comfort in a Time of Isolation, Part 2

I’ve been sharing some of the music I’ve composed in the hope that it might speak to others in our shared isolation with COVID-19 wandering abroad. This evening’s offering is part of a set of pieces commissioned by the wonderful Alder Street Sextet, entitled Chehalem Sketches. The pieces as a group are musical vignettes of the beautiful wine country valley in Oregon where I live,

This piece, Chehalem Twilight, is my impression of a clear summer night, with slowly changing harmonies that dissolve into the twinkling of stars at the end. The performers are the aforementioned Alder Street Sextet: pianist Maria Choban, flutist Janet Bebb, oboist Ann Van Bever, clarinetist John Gibson, hornist David Scott Crane, and bassoonist Boyd Osgood. Thank you, friends, for making music with me.
